It sounds weird, but it's effective

Warming Socks- A Home Remedy To Support The Immune System

Are you feeling under the weather?  Fighting something off?

Do you get headaches?

Well, I have a great suggestion for you…

The Warming Socks treatment is an effective, natural method of stimulating the immune system. It requires the body to heat the feet because of the cold damp socks, and therefore, increases circulation.  Yes, that’s right. I just said “cold damp socks”. I know I just confused you! So here’s the break down. Basically, at bedtime you’ll put cold damp socks on very warm feet and the body will increase circulation to keep the feet warm. So that’s why we say “warming socks” treatment.

The energy is pulled away from your head and chest going toward your feet, increasing your overall circulation. When circulation is increased, the immune system is stimulated.  The vessels in your feet constrict when your feet cool down which sends all the good nutrients into your organs and tissues. When your feet start to warm up again, your vessels will dilate to release the heat, detoxifying the junk into your blood stream to be disposed through the lymphatics.

The results are an active immune system and decreased congestion. While you sleep, your body is magically working to heal itself and the sedative effect of the warming socks treatment can help you fall and stay asleep!

It seems like the coldness from the socks would keep you up, but it only lasts for a minute and then you get a soothing sedative effect that allows you to drift off to a restful sleep.

I have used warming socks for to fight off fevers and colds and wake up the next day with my symptoms almost gone! I also get a great night of sleep!

What conditions are Warming Socks used for?

  • Headaches
  • Fever
  • Sore throat
  • Nasal congestion
  • Colds, flu
  • Sinus infections
  • Ear infections & more!

The warming socks treatment is often best if repeated for three nights in a row.  It’s very safe, even for young children, but people with chronic health concerns or compromised immune systems such as diabetes, Raynaud’s phenomenon/syndrome, arterial insufficiency or advanced intermittent claudication, should speak with their Doctor to see if this treatment is appropriate for them before trying.

Supplies:

  • Pair of cotton socks, ankle or mid-calf length – 100% cotton is best
  • Pair of wool socks, mid-calf length – 100% wool is best
  • Warm foot bath
  • Towel

Directions:

  1. Soak the cotton socks in cold water. Wring out cotton socks very well. Place them in the freezer (for infants and young children, place the socks in the fridge instead) for five minutes after wringing them out (while you’re doing step 2)
  2. Soak your feet for 3-5 minutes in a hot foot bath, or get them warm in a hot shower. If your cold socks will come above your ankles, get your feet and lower legs warm.
  3. Dry your feet well.
  4. Put the cold socks on over your warm, dry feet. This will feel cold for a minute.
  5. Place the wool socks on over the cold socks.
  6. Get into bed, relax and rest.
  7. Socks should dry during the night and become dry by morning upon waking.
